  2. Roast sesame on the pan on low heat, until colored brown. (10-15min) - If you're doing with black sesame, be careful not to burn!
  3. Grind sesame with grinder or processor. - In Japan, traditionally use "Suri-Bachi", a bowl having rough inner surface to crush the foods and "Suri-Kogi", a rounded stick like a rolling pin.
  4. Mix the vegetables with sesame, sugar and soy sauce.

I love the aroma of the black sesame seeds and the sweet and nutty flavour of the sauce. Use a surikogi and suribachi or a regular pestle and mortar to grind the sesame seeds. Hourensou no goma-ae (菠薐草の胡麻和え) literally translates to "spinach dressed with sesame seeds". If that sounds simple, that's because it is.
